A short film I DP’d for the Student Television Networks Sweet 16 competition. The vague prompt was “The Magic Lasso”. We had to include a tight, wide, and medium shot of the ‘lasso’.

Sad to say we were disqualified, with the judge stating “unfortunately even the slightest mention of suicide is too dicey for STN… you guys are clearly phenomenal film makers”

also - cast & crew were the dopeness.

Tell me what you think!

Went out with a buddy to film his car. We didn’t really end up filming much with the car, but ultimately this is the footage we got.

The particular car, though my least favorite generation 3 series, is clean as fuck and loaded to brim with every option making it just 2 inches away from an M3.

Xavier: One of the principals we have is that there is no weird place to hear our music: even if it’s a s*** movie it’s cool because it’s meant that for a music supervisor, your song complements this emotion or something a bit epic. For example, the best place for us to listen to our music is when there is a football game announcement. You think, “Wow - if this track is powerful enough to make someone think that it could fit with a football game, then it’s perfect.”
Gaspard: It’s blood-sweat-and-tears music.

It’s interesting seeing this perspective from artists. Copyright law and record companies make you jump through flaming knifed hoops to use artist’s music in indie films, but I genuinely think artists would enjoy for their songs to be used by, essentially, other artists.
