why does the average person care about Steve?
Steve Jobs was one of the greatest modern visionaries.
But it wasn’t him who created, designed, engineered, and marketed every Apple product. That was done by brilliant, crazy people who were lucky enough to of been found by Steve Jobs, a man who was brilliant, crazy, and clever enough to put their ideas to good use. Steve Jobs wasn’t interested in making gadgets, he was interested in making gadgets that shift the way each and every person lives their day to day life. He was interested in changing the world. And thus, he was interested in finding people who are good enough to do that and guiding them through the best possible way to do so. It’s why Steve Jobs sold Steve Wozniak’s computers before Apple, he saw the potential and knew it was earth shattering.
Steve Jobs started a technology company that changed the way technology is thought about. We shouldn’t admire him for creating the mac, the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad because it wasn’t just him who created it. We should admire him though, for creating an environment where products like that can be created. For creating an industry that encourages the mix of technological engineering, communication, perfection, and perhaps most importantly, art.
That makes his influence deeper than just at Apple. That makes his influence affect all companies, and how they work; and all people, and how they act. That’s why regular people, not just technonerds are affected by his passing.
May he rest in peace, and best wishes to his friends, families, colleagues, and people touched by his way of thinking.
